Students for Entrepreneurs (S4E) Announces Scholarship Recipient

Students for Entrepreneurs (S4E) recently awarded its first scholarship of $1,500 for the 2008-09 academic year to Casey Fictum, a DePaul University junior. Casey was selected out of a pool of applicants for his uplifting message about entrepreneurship - “Never Let the Idea Die” - which was the theme of his essay submission and presentation to a panel of judges.

S4E is an organization taking entrepreneurship to a new level by giving back to the community it is made up of - DePaul students. It awards its scholarship to a student who demonstrates a great interest in entrepreneurship by completing entrepreneurship courses, attending seminars and conferences, and/or being involved in an entrepreneurial venture. It is the first student organization to offer this opportunity to its peers, and allows for a diverse group of members by encouraging students across DePaul’s nine colleges and schools to join.

The organization has made many exciting strides this year, including doubling its membership, holding several successful fundraisers, and winning a philanthropy award of $1,000 that went toward its scholarship. S4E has only been on campus for two years, but it has quickly made an impact. It was founded by 2007 DePaul graduate and entrepreneur Rania El-Sorrogy, and is currently led by President Becca Berkenstadt, a DePaul sophomore.
