2008 Awards Gala & DePaul New Venture Challenge Winner Announced

The Coleman Entrepreneurship Center’s 2008 Awards Gala and DePaul New Venture Challenge Finals took place Thursday, May 29 at the Union League Club of Chicago.

Congratulations to Commuter Advertising, winner of the 2008 DePaul New Venture Challenge! The team is led by Russell Gottesman (MBA), Katie Gottesman, and Scott McPherson. Commuter Advertising creates, manages, and sells relevant and entertaining advertising spots on trains and buses through partnerships with transit services. Commuter Advertising provides advertisers a new media to deliver marketing messages to targeted consumers at relevant locations along transit routes. In return for access to bus and train audio systems, Commuter Advertising shares revenue with budget-strapped transit agencies, relieving commuters of fare hikes and communities of tax increases.

The mission of DQI USA is to provide the best metrics possible through which clients can assess how well buildings are designed, satisfying the requirements of governmental mandates and/or the requirements of private asset owners. The DQI is an online questionnaire that collects data from anyone with a vested interest in producing the best design possible for a building. These stakeholders respond to the DQI, and individual subjective perceptions are translated into objective measurable results via a proprietary algorithm tool.

Dynamic Engineered Industrial Products (DEIP) will provide replacement components for Mag-Drive pumps in the petroleum, chemical, and waste water industries. The highly engineered Mag-Drive pumps contain replaceable components that are required to be changed regularly. With growing environmental and safety regulations, this market segment is outpacing the conventional pump market. DEIP will provide a complete replacement solution that provides flexibility, value, and dependability to a market that is currently being underserved.

This award is presented to a student whose entrepreneurial spirit, achievements, and advocacy are matched by a commitment to education and making a difference in society.

The Catalyst Award - Michael Hennessy, The Coleman Foundation

The Catalyst Award is presented to an organization or individual who has played a fundamental role in the success and growth of the Coleman Entrepreneurship Center.
