In this seminar, participants learn the intricacies of making the investment and how the investor-venture relationship develops over time. Panelists share their insights on term sheets, negotiations, deal structure, and valuations, among the technical business topics. In addition, participants learn about the human side of doing the deal - communications, the entrepreneurial personality, and mentoring the entrepreneur.

PANELISTS

Since 2001, Patrick Ottensmeyer has served as Financial Advisor and/or Chief Financial Office of Intranasal Therapeutics, Inc. a late stage-specialty pharmaceutical and drug delivery company specializing in the development of prescription drugs for nasal delivery. During 2000, he served as Corporate Vice President Finance and Treasurer of Dade-Behring, Inc., a global manufacturer of medical diagnostic equipment and supplies.

From 1993 to 1999, Mr. Ottensmeyer was Vice President of Finance and Treasurer of Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corporation (BNSF), one of the largest railroads in the United States. At BNSF, his responsibilities included: corporate finance and treasury, risk management, strategic planning, and investment management.

Mr. Ottensmeyer is currently an Executive-In-Residence and member of the Finance Advisory Board of DePaul University in Chicago. He is also a member of the DePaul Blue Angel Network. He is a native of Vincennes, Indiana and graduated from Indiana University (1979) with a B.S. degree in Finance. He currently resides in Lake Forest, Illinois with his wife Kathy and their three daughters.

Michael S. Roberts is a Partner at Connelly Roberts and McGivney LLC. He graduated from DePaul University College of Law in 1987. He has extensive experience in corporate and securities transactions, technology law, financing and commercial real estate transactions.

He has represented entrepreneurs, acquisition funds, software developers, internet companies, manufacturing and retail enterprises, commercial banks and real estate developers in a wide variety of mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, private placements of debt and equity, financings, executive compensation and real property transactions. Mr. Roberts is also a certified public accountant.
