Join the Chicago Public Library for a free open house in our Business Department on the 4th floor of the Harold Washington Library Center. Business librarians will be on hand to showcase all the Library has to offer small businesses, including:
- Sample business plans
- Access to online resources and subscription databases such as Hoover's Company Records, Morningstar and ReferenceUSA
- Marketing tools, and much, much more

Mark Your Calendars for Career Week 2009

DePaul’s second annual Career Week is scheduled for February 16 – 22, 2009. Career Week offers a series of workshops, networking opportunities and seminars for experienced adults, those in transition and those looking for change. Topics that will be covered include using social networking effectively, managing career transition, sharpening job search and interview skills and more.
Career Week events are designed specifically for DePaul adult students, graduate students, and alumni. Activities will take place on the Loop, Lincoln Park and suburban campuses. 2008 STARTUPNATION Dorm based 20 Winners

StartupNation’s Dorm-Based 20 ranking names America's top 20 college-based businesses and the young entrepreneurs behind them.
Entrants judged had to be attending college in the U.S. (though not necessarily living in a dorm) and had to have a functioning business website.
Winners were judged on a combination of the following criteria:
- Innovativeness of business concept
- Potential for growth
- Cutting-edge business practices
- Demonstration of business fundamentals
- Degree of talent exhibited by the founder
- Potential for overall impact
- Financial performance

Google promises $10 million for ideas that change the world

Google Inc. has announced it will award $10 million to fund ideas that promise to better the world. Called Project 10^100, Google's initiative will seek ideas from the public. People are encouraged to submit their ideas online through October 20.
After online voting, a panel of judges will announce up to five winners in 2009. Read more here.
