2009 Faculty & Student Award Recipients
This year's recipient of the Dr. Harold P. Welsch Faculty Champion Award is Adjunct Professor, John Lump (COM '83). This award is presented annually to a faculty member whose passion and commitment to entrepreneurship has a lasting impact on DePaul University students, faculty, and alumni. Professor Lump's nomination was based on the following criteria:
- Has demonstrated a high commitment to entrepreneurship at DePaul
- Incorporates entrepreneurial thinking into the classroom and encourages students to be more entrepreneurial-minded
- Has served as an ambassador of entrepreneurship at DePaul within both the university and Chicagoland communities
John Lump (COM ’83)
Adjunct Professor; Department of Finance, College of Commerce
John is Vice President, SEC Reporting for the Chicago Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago, and has been teaching the Financing New Ventures course at DePaul since 2003. Prior to his current position, John held several other executive-level positions in fi nance and accounting. In addition to serving on the Coleman Center’s Campus Advisory Committee, John is a member of the Finance Advisory Board in the College of Commerce. John earned his bachelor’s degree from DePaul University and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
This year's recipients of the Outstanding Entrepreneurial Student Award are Christopher Campbell (CMN '09) and Jennifer Moran (COM '09). This award is presented annually to a student(s) whose entrepreneurial spirit, achievements, and advocacy are matched by a commitment to education and making a difference in society. Christopher and Jennifer's nominations were based on the following criteria:
- Has demonstrated a high commitment to being a DePaul student-entrepreneur in the classroom and through participation in extracurricular activities
- Has dedicated him or herself to planning and growing an entrepreneurial venture while also pursuing and completing an education
- Has served as an ambassador of entrepreneurship at DePaul within both the university and Chicagoland communities
- Shows exceeding promise of becoming a socially responsible entrepreneur and an engaged alumnus
Christopher Campbell (CMN ’09)
Chris is a Communications student and serial entrepreneur. After selling his lawn care business as a DePaul freshman, Chris launched GreenWerks, a company specializing in developing eco-friendly construction and remodeling solutions. He is also a co-founder of Lake Shore Branding, a marketing driven technology firm that designs and develops websites, search engine optimization (SEO), and paid search solutions for organizations that advertise their products, services, and brand on the internet.
Jennifer Moran (COM ’09)
Jennifer is a Marketing and Entrepreneurship student, and serial social entrepreneur. She is currently launching GREENOLA, a social venture selling women’s fair trade, sustainable clothing and accessories. Concurrently, Jennifer owns and operates Solidarity Clothing, which manufactures and sells shirts, reusable shopping bags, and embroidered/screen-printed corporate apparel. These products are made by legally established, worker-owned cooperatives in Bolivia, which receive fair trade pricing, operate under healthy conditions, and with respect to workers’ human rights.
